Raffles Istanbul Hotel, Zorlu Center Wayfinding
The 181-room contemporary Raffles Istanbul hotel overlooks the Bosphorus. The inspiration for the interiors and wayfinding is derived from the Turkish heritage. Precious jewels, Emperor’s and Empress’ accessories during the Byzantine era, and mosaics influence the color palettes and finishes throughout the hotel. The guestroom signage sets the tone as a visitor walks into the elevator lobby. Following the fractured glass pattern, the floor level directory is seamlessly integrated into the glass panel. Further, the guest is greeted by the guest floor directional that is truly a work of art. It reflects the geometric shapes found throughout the interiors in a playful and three-dimensional way. The guestroom sign is equipped with LED edge lit numbers and a doorbell, which portrays a “jewel” embedded into the fractured glass panel. The overall wayfinding experience is designed to work cohesively with the interiors. Created with Hirsch Bedner Associates. Photo credit HBA.
